Hundreds Of Cleveland Rentals Tested For Lead, 34 Issued Violations
In its first year, Cleveland’s Rental Inspection Unit has completed 763 random tests for lead dust. Out of those inspections, the city issued 34 violations, with less than half of those properties now cleared of their lead hazard. Department of Building and Housing Director Ayonna Blue Donald testified before city council’s Development, Planning, and Sustainability Committee Tuesday, saying she wants three additional properties cleared by the end of the year. 11 appeals were filed and Donald said the remaining five violations are heading toward prosecution.

Cleveland Museum of Art Establishes Center to Conserve Chinese Art
Institutions that hold collections of Chinese art are facing a crisis. The number of Chinese painting conservators is rapidly shrinking. “Most of the conservators in the field came from China shortly after the Cultural Revolution, but also up until the late 1980s. They are about five to 10 years away from retirement, and there weren’t any junior conservators taking over their legacy,” said Per Knutas, chief conservator at the Cleveland Museum of Art.

The Magical Tale of Cleveland Native Arsenio Hall
When it comes to comedy in Cleveland you only need to say his first name: Arsenio. Cleveland's Arsenio Hall soared to national fame when his syndicated late-night show premiered in 1989, not long after his co-starring role in the box-office hit "Coming to America" with Eddie Murphy. This Saturday night Arsenio returns home for a show at the Hard Rock Rocksino. As a boy growing up in Cleveland's Kinsman district in the 60s and 70s, it was literally magic that saved him from a rough childhood.

Full Ohio Impact Of New NAFTA Deal Remains To Be Seen
With a self-imposed Sunday deadline quickly approaching, the Trump administration finished negotiations with Canada to agree to a trade deal to supplant NAFTA. Ohio Legislative Black Caucus Campaigns For Issue 1 In Cleveland
The leader of the Ohio Legislative Black Caucus joined with some Cleveland City Council members and other local officials to support Issue 1 at a news conference Thursday morning. The proposed constitutional amendment would reduce penalties for drug possession, reclassifying lower-level felonies as misdemeanors. It would also allow incarcerated people, with some exceptions, to shorten their prison sentences by taking part in job and education programs.
