U.S. Airstrikes in Fallujah Take High Toll
American airstrikes destroy a house in Fallujah that U.S. authorities say was used by fighters linked to al Qaeda. At least 20 people died. U.S. officials say it was a safe house for fighters loyal to Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, the Jordanian-born militant. Hear NPR's Andrea Seabrook and NPR's Deborah Amos.

Bush Eyes Tax Cut on Savings Accounts
President George Bush would like to make his tax cuts permanent, and add some new ones. The most dramatic new proposal from the White House would allow Americans to pay less tax on their savings. Many Democrats contend it's just another tax break for the wealthy. NPR's Kathleen Schalch reports.

Battered Dean Says He's Still in Race
In the last few days, political pundits, online supporters and even his now-departed campaign chairman have forecast that Howard Dean would exit the presidential race if he loses Tuesday's primary in Wisconsin. Team Clones Human Embryo in Korea
South Korean and U.S. researchers say they have successfully cloned a human embryo and extracted embryonic stem cells from it. The experiment, reported in the journal Science, is the first instance of cloned human stem cells -- an important step toward therapeutic cloning, in which patients' own replacement tissue would be generated to treat them. NPR's Joe Palca reports.

Bush Releases Military Records
The White House releases pay records and other information about President Bush's time in the National Guard. The White House said the new documents support the president's contention that he fulfilled his duty as a member of the Air National Guard during the Vietnam War. Democratic presidential candidates had begun to take up the question of Bush's military service. NPR's Don Gonyea reports.

Attacks on Iraqi Kurds Kill 56
In the worst attack in Iraq since August, 56 people died Sunday and more than 200 wounded in twin suicide bombings. The near simultaneous explosions took place in the northern city of Irbil, inside the separate headquarters of Iraq's two leading Kurdish political parties. The offices were crowded with guests invited to celebrate a Muslim holy day. NPR's Emily Harris reports.

Edwards Courts Blue-Collar Vote
As 10 states prepare to hold Democratic contests March 2, Sen. John Edwards concentrates his efforts in Ohio, New York and Georgia -- areas especially hard hit by job losses in manufacturing. AFL-CIO Expected to Back Kerry
The AFL-CIO is expected to endorse Sen. John Kerry's presidential campaign Wednesday. The support of the 13-million-member labor organization is a major milestone for Kerry, who at first had trouble attracting union endorsements. It also gives him an advantage over rival Sen. John Edwards, who has courted union support aggressively. NPR's Robert Smith reports.

Uranium Enrichment Tools Found in Iran
U.N. inspectors in Iran discover equipment capable of producing enriched uranium, according to U.S. and U.N. officials. The components -- more advanced than Iran has previously acknowledged -- could reportedly be used as either nuclear fuel or in making an atomic bomb.
