Cleveland City Council Poised For Vote On Lead Paint Rules
After legislative tweaks Tuesday, a proposal that would require landlords to ensure properties are safe from lead paint poisoning moved one step closer to becoming law in Cleveland. City Council’s economic development committee approved the lead-safe legislation with several amendments, sending it on for a possible vote from the full council July 24.

Judge Partially Lifts Veil On Drug Sale Data In Opioid Suit
Updated 7:19 p.m., July 15, 2019 The federal judge presiding over nationwide opioid litigation has partially lifted an order that shielded years of drug sales data from public view. U.S. District Judge Dan Polster on Monday ordered the release of data on opioid sales from the Drug Enforcement Administration’s Automation of Reports and Consolidated Orders System dated on or before Dec. 31, 2012.

Study: Manure Bigger Problem For Lake Erie Algae Than Previously Thought
One of the conundrums in the effort to halt toxic algal blooms in western Lake Erie, near Toledo, is why phosphorus levels continue to rise, even though farmers in the Maumee River watershed have been using less fertilizer. Two environmental groups think manure is playing a larger role than researchers have previously thought.

100% College Acceptance For First Graduates Of CMSD-MetroHealth High School
Cleveland Metropolitan School Distrxt’s Lincoln-West School of Science and Health graduates its first class of students next week and every graduating senior has been accepted to college. To mark the last day of school, MetroHealth staff lined the main campus atrium Monday to surprise the 20 graduating Lincoln-West seniors with a clap out. Since 2016, the kids have received hands-on experience learning from professionals at MetroHealth medical center.

NASA Chief: Glenn Research Center Instrumental In Return To Moon
NASA’s Glenn Research Center is playing a key role in the mission to take astronauts back to the moon and on to Mars, Administrator Jim Bridenstine said during a visit to Cleveland Monday. “The moon is our proving ground for how do we live and work on another world, so that we can go to Mars,” Bridenstine said. “And the sooner we can prove that out on the moon, the sooner we can move on to Mars.”

Lorain Democrats Delay Pick Of November Mayoral Candidate
Updated: 4:25 p.m. 6/6/19 Most of the Democrats seeking to succeed Lorain Mayor Chase Ritenauer in November have been bumped from contention after a legal opinion from the county prosecutor’s office. Ritenauer announced his resignation in early May, days after he won the Democratic primary unopposed.

List Of Troubled Northeast Ohio Nursing Homes Released
Updated 6:02, 6/6/19 Four Northeast Ohio nursing homes are on a list of troubled facilities that has been released to the public by two U.S. Senators. Canton Christian Home, Eliza Bryant Village in Cleveland, Hudson Elms Nursing Home and Stow Glen Health Care Center, were all found to have serious health, safety or sanitary problems according to the federal government.

‘Pajama Diaries’ Cartoonist Terri Libensen on New Graphic Novel ‘Positively Izzy'
Middle school is not necessarily an easy time of life to live, but cartoonist Terri Libensen depicts the struggles and joys kids experience through graphic novels. “Weirdly enough, I find it to be kind of natural for myself,” she said. “I think part of me just never grew up (laughing), which is probably part of the reason I’m a cartoonist.” “Positively Izzy,” published by HarperCollins, captures the drama of middle school and explores what happens when two very different characters' lives intersect.
