  • When the Cleveland police union endorsed state Treasurer Josh Mandel (Republican) today in his bid for US Senate, there were no union members in the audience. The union president Steve Loomis announced the Cleveland Police Patrolmen’s Association leadership had voted to endorse Mandel over incumbent Senator Sherrod Brown (D). Loomis said Brown is “stale” and does not support law enforcement. “…rambles on about Black Lives Matter and false narratives and that’s just completely unacceptable,” said Loomis.

The forecast shows Northeast Ohio could be in for temperatures in the 50s in a matter of days, and the freeze and thaw could bring potholes and other strains on infrastructure, especially water pipes.
  • Former Akron Mayor Don Plusquellic may run for the city’s executive office again. The Democrat would have to go up against incumbent Daniel Horrigan, a fellow Democrat, in the May primary. In an email to ideastream, Plusquellic writes he hasn’t even made up his own mind yet, but he is considering a bid for the office that he held for 28 years. He says a number of people have been urging him to consider a run.
