British Lord Resigns After Being A Few Minutes Late, But Will Keep His Job
Lord Michael Bates was set to answer questions before the British House of Lords on Wednesday, but arrived a few minutes late. When the session concluded, he jumped up to the lectern, apologized profusely and offered his resignation. He still has his job though after Prime Minister Theresa May said she wouldn't accept it.

Story Behind “Oklahoma” As Musical Nears 75th Anniversary
It’s easy to see why theater insiders questioned in 1943 whether the new musical that composers Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein brought to Broadway would be a success. Hammerstein’s prior six shows had been flops. The 1931 Lynn Riggs play, “Green Grow the Lilacs,” on which the musical was based, hadn’t been well-received. The creators cast “Oklahoma” without any box-office stars that could help sell tickets.

Planes, Automobiles, And... Goldfish—NEO’s Manufacturing Forecast In Three Words
Manufacturing jobs may be declining, but at least two Northeast Ohio industries are expected to buck the trend in 2018. That's according to Jacob Duritsky, Vice President of Strategy and Research at the nonprofit economic development organization, Team NEO. For years, Duritsky has focused on trying to understand the forces that shape Northeast Ohio’s economy. And in an interview with ideastream, he forecasted a few economic stories he expects to play out over the next year.

Opponents Question Mayor Frank Jackson at Candidate Forum
Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson faced a skeptical crowd last night in his bid for re-election. At an East Side forum with the mayor, supporters of one of his challengers packed the audience. Roughly half the people in the basement of Mt. Gillion Baptist Church wore t-shirts that either bore the name of Councilman Jeff Johnson or displayed messages in favor of raising Cleveland’s minimum wage, a cause Johnson has supported.

Two Days Before Deportation, Akron Woman Claims Sanctuary
After prayers in both English and Spanish asking for guidance for local and national leaders, nearly 50 members of the Forest Hill Presbyterian Church and surrounding community stood on the steps of the Cleveland Heights chapel in support of Leonor Garcia. The mother of four recently lived and worked in the Akron area, but now calls the church itself her home. Garcia came to the U.S. illegally as a teenager some 20 years ago, but had recently been contacted by the federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency and was slated to be deported Thursday.

Cleveland Indians Win 21st Straight To Break American League Record
The Indians beat the Detroit Tigers 5-3 Wednesday afternoon to break a tie at 20 straight wins, a streak also managed by the 2002 Oakland Athletics. Five more wins will tie the major league record.
