  • By Sai Karnati At Mentor’s Headlands Beach State Park, the water hugs trees and parks in its lots. Flooding from Lake Erie's high water has prompted the city of Mentor to cancel the popular Headlands BeachFest, scheduled for July 20.
  • Cleveland police officers must help solve community problems under new policies submitted for a federal judge’s approval this month. Officers should help solve problems in ways that don’t involve making arrests, the policies say. That could include connecting people with mental health or drug treatment, homeless services or domestic violence agencies.

The $2 million exhibit opens to the public today on the second floor of the Rock Hall. “It’s all about energizing and inspiring,” said Rock Hall Vice President and Chief Curator Karen Herman. In reflecting upon the museum’s more than two decades in Cleveland, Herman said it was important to design a space for visitors to make music. “Every visitor can come in and try it,” she said.
