Lynndie England Pleads Guilty to Abu Ghraib Charges
Under a deal with prosecutors, Army Pfc. Lynndie England pleads guilty to seven of nine criminal charges against her in connection with the abuse scandal at Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq. If accepted by the judge, the plea would lower England's maximum sentence to 11 years from 16 1/2 years.
Republican Guard Heads Toward U.S. Marines
A large contingent of Saddam Hussein's most battle-ready forces, along with 1,000 vehicles, moves toward U.S. Marines in central Iraq. Marine officers say the elite Republican Guard units are heading south out of Baghdad on a route that avoids advancing U.S. Army forces, taking them directly to the Marines. Hear NPR News.
Experts: NASA Faces Challenges in Changing Culture
An independent investigation board determines the Feb. 1 Columbia disaster was caused in part by mismanagement within NASA, and recommends changes the space agency should make before resuming shuttle flights. Some analysts say fixing NASA's culture will be the most difficult of space agency changes. Hear NPR's Richard Harris and Rep. Vernon Ehlers (R-MI).
Columbia Report Blasts NASA's Culture
The panel investigating the Columbia disaster releases its final report on what caused the space shuttle to break up Feb. 1. The report confirms the theory that foam debris from the shuttle's fuel tank severely damaged the craft during liftoff. But it lays the ultimate blame on mismanagement at NASA, citing organizational and cultural shortcomings. Hear NPR's David Kestenbaum.

Deadly Blast Tears Apart Baghdad Hotel
An explosion in the heart of Baghdad kills at least 25 people and leaves nearly 50 others wounded. The blast, which investigators say was the result of a 1,000-pound car bomb, left a huge crater outside the Mount Lebanon hotel, which was nearly destroyed by the blast. Edwards to End Presidential Bid
North Carolina Sen. John Edwards is expected to end his quest for the Democratic presidential bid Wednesday after failing to win a single state contest Tuesday, when more than 1,100 delegates were at stake. Speculation abounds that Edwards may be picked as Sen. John Kerry's running mate in November. NPR's Adam Hochberg reports.

Bombs Kill Nearly 200 in Madrid
Ten coordinated explosions tear through trains and stations along a commuter line in Spain, killing at least 190 people and wounding 1,200 others at the height of Madrid's morning rush hour. Spain's interior minister says a van has been found near Madrid that contained seven detonators and a tape in Arabic. Jerome Socolovsky reports from Madrid.

Spain mourns the victims of Thursday's bombings on commuter trains in Madrid that killed nearly 200 people and wounded more than 1,400 others. Spanish officials still suspect the Basque separatist group ETA is to blame. But they are also investigating several clues that suggest al Qaeda may have been involved.
