  • The Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse is the new home for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremonies, starting this fall. After more than a year of virtual events across the country, the Rock Hall is looking to break out of a COVID-19-induced prison and return to a live induction event in Cleveland on October 30. Rock Hall president Greg Harris said it will be the sixth time for a hometown induction. “It was here back in ‘97 in a hotel,” he said. “Then, in 2009, 2012, 2015 and 2018, it was held at Cleveland's Public Auditorium.”

  • Parma City School District is asking voters in Parma, Parma Heights and Seven Hills to support Issue 73, which would cover construction costs for the first round of changes in the district’s master plan. The 6.5 mill bond issue would raise the $300 million needed for the first phase of the school district’s “strategic consolidation” master plan. If Issue 73 passes, the owner of a $100,000 home would pay $18.97 a month in added taxes.
  • Preliminary data show the infant mortality rate has dropped for every demographic in Cuyahoga County in 2019 except white babies, for which it increased slightly. The overall rate in 2019 (not counting December) was 7.75 per 1,000 live births, compared to 8.65 in 2018. Although the African American infant mortality rate dropped from 15.49 deaths per 1,000 live births in 2018 down to 13.97 in 2019, Cuyahoga County Board of Health statistician Richard Stacklin said black babies are still more than 3.5 times more likely to die than white babies.
