CPL Union Workers Vote To Authorize A Strike
Updated: 10:43 p.m. Jan. 8, 2020 Union workers voted Wednesday to put the option of a strike on the table in contract negotiations with the Cleveland Public Library. The decision was nearly unanimous, according to union representatives. The vote gives the bargaining committee of Service Employees International Union Local 1199 (SEIU) the ability to issue a 10-day notice of a strike at any time. But the union plans to hold off on issuing that notice until after the next negotiation session, according to a statement emailed to ideastream.

U.K. COVID-19 Mutant Strain Found In UH Lab Samples
Updated: 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2021 The new, more contagious COVID-19 strain that originated in the U.K. has been discovered in Northeast Ohio, University Hospitals officials confirmed Wednesday. Since December, UH researchers have been tracking emerging variants found in COVID-19 patient lab samples in Cleveland, including B.1.1.7, the variant that circulated widely in the U.K., officials said.

Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson Mandates Face Masks In Public
Updated: 5:46 p.m., Monday, July 6, 2020 Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson issued an order Friday afternoon requiring face covering anywhere in public in Cleveland. Jackson's order also set a maximum occupancy of 50 percent at all bars and restaurants. The city will shut down any bar with two violations of the maximum occupancy order.

Downtown Councilman: Cleveland Was 'Overwhelmed' By Violent Protests
Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson has extended the curfew in Downtown Cleveland until 8 p.m. June 2. It was set to expire Monday at 8 a.m., but Sunday night, the mayor issued the extension. He also expanded the curfew zone to include the Market District on Cleveland’s Near West Side. No vehicles or pedestrians are permitted in these areas. Ward 3 Cleveland City Councilman Kerry McCormack represents the Downtown, Ohio City and Tremont neighborhoods.

DeWine: If Schools Don't Return March 1, They Won't Get COVID-19 Vaccines
Updated: 8:02 p.m., Friday, Feb. 12, 2021 Some Ohio schools aren’t adhering to their commitment to go back to in-person learning after receiving the COVID-19 vaccine, according to Gov. Mike DeWine. During a surprise Friday evening press conference, DeWine warned that if schools don’t go back to school on March 1 as promised, he will redirect vaccine to other vulnerable populations.
Wolstein Center In Cleveland To Be One Of Ohio's 15 Mass Vaccination Sites
Updated: 2:06 p.m., Friday, March 5, 2020 As many as 6,000 people could be vaccinated per day in Cleveland as part of a new mass COVID-19 vaccination clinic starting March 17, federal and state officials announced Friday. The clinic will be held for eight weeks at the Wolstein Center on Cleveland State University’s campus in downtown Cleveland, Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine announced in a press release.
