Lorain County has released its Community Health Improvement Plan, which outlines health issues it will focus on over the next three years. The top priorities include chronic disease, maternal and child health, mental health, substance abuse and cancer. Young people in the Cleveland area will have access to three free meals a day during the extended spring break that begins next week. Cleveland Metropolitan School District CEO Eric Gordon said Friday that the district will host 22 sites where any person under the age of 18 can pick up a two-meal package containing breakfast and lunch. Lakewood is offering relief for small businesses in financial trouble due to the coronavirus, creating a fund to cover rent costs for the next month. The fund has grants of up to $3,000 to help with rental costs. The money will come from the city’s economic development fund, or in the form of a community development block grant in cases where the business owner’s income is 85 percent or less of the median income for Lakewood. To qualify, a business must be locally owned, operate a storefront in the city and employ 50 or fewer people.

ArcelorMittal is furloughing nearly 250 employees from its Cleveland plant due to the coronavirus pandemic, the company announced this week, in addition to the 48 employees already furloughed from the company's Eggers Avenue site earlier this month.

Many kids infected with COVID-19 don’t show any symptoms, but for some, the infection is linked to serious illness. Children's hospitals in Ohio have formed a new working group to allow them to better diagnose and treat this disease, called Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome in Children, or MIS-C. Kids with MIS-C will have high fevers, gastrointestinal issues, and rashes. Internally, the kids will have clotting disorders, dehydration, and cardiac issues.
