  • The Cleveland International Film Festival plans to stay virtual next year. CIFF announced today the 45th annual festival next April will be online due to both the uncertainly around the pandemic and the state of the film, theater and event industries. "We truly believe, based on science and community circumstances, it is the best decision taking into consideration the safety of all those involved," said CIFF Executive Director Marcie Goodman.

  • David McDaniel, the 18-year-old charged with the killing of Cleveland Police Det. James Skernivitz and Scott Dingess, will make his first appearance in Cleveland Municipal Court Wednesday morning. McDaniel is charged with two counts of aggravated murder.   • Mining company Cleveland-Cliffs will buy West Chester, Ohio-based steelmaker AK Steel in a deal valued at $1.1 billion, the companies announced Tuesday in a news release. The merger will combine Cliffs’ iron ore operations with AK Steel’s manufacturing business, which largely supplies the automotive industry. Cliffs CEO Lourenco Goncalves will lead the company, according to the release, and AK Steel CEO Roger Newport plans to retire.
