Behind the Music in 'Vietnam War'
Music can help express emotions that aren't so easily put to words, and songs from of the Vietnam War era continue to help people identify with feelings from that time period. Songs like John Lennon’s “Give Peace a Chance” and the Rolling Stones “Street Fighting Man” helped filmmakers Ken Burns and Lynn Novick with “The Vietnam War,” a series which premieres on PBS WVIZ on Sunday.

White House Releases NAFTA Renegotiation Goals
The Trump administration says it aims to remove barriers to U.S. exports in a renegotiated North American Free Trade Agreement with Canada and Mexico. The office of the U.S. Trade Representative this week released a list of the White House’s objectives for a new NAFTA. In a prepared statement, Democratic Sen. Sherrod Brown said he needs to see more details, but “the real test will be whether President Trump puts American workers over corporate profits once negotiations begin.”

Apollo's Fire Wins First Grammy Award With 'Songs of Orpheus'
Cleveland-based baroque orchestra Apollo's Fire won its first Grammy Award Sunday. The group shares the win for “Best Classical Solo Vocal Album” with tenor Karim Sulayman. Apollo's Fire Director Jeannette Sorrell almost could not make it to the ceremony in Los Angeles, but she sure is glad she did.

Jury Trials Resume Monday In Cuyahoga County
Jury trials are scheduled to resume in Cuyahoga County on Sept. 21. In addition to requiring social distancing and masks, Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court has installed Plexiglas partitions in the three courtrooms holding criminal trials.

CDC Data Misinterpreted On Social Media
Last week, the U.S.Centers for Disease Control and Prevention released data that shows 6 percent of coronavirus deaths had COVID-19 listed as the only cause of death. Over the weekend, misinformation spread on social media, retweeted by President Donald Trump, misinterpreting the data to mean that only 6 percent of coronavirus deaths were caused by the virus.

Class Action Lawsuit Seeks Federal Oversight Of Cuyahoga County Jail Reform
The Cleveland NAACP and two law firms, Friedman & Gilbert and Porter Wright Morris & Arthur filed a class action lawsuit Thursday against Cuyahoga County on behalf of inmates at the county jail. The lawsuit follows a US Marshals report detailing problems with the jail, calling conditions there “inhumane.”
Cleveland Hospitals Post Prices Online But Doubt Consumers Will Benefit
If you want to compare the price of a pregnancy test at the Cleveland Clinic versus University Hospitals, the information is now on their websites. Starting January 1, the Affordable Care Act mandated that hospitals provide a list of prices for all medical costs from a nursery bed to a transcatheter biopsy. The intent of the requirement from the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services is to bring transparency and help consumers shop around.

Cuyahoga County Considering Revised Whistleblower Protections
Cuyahoga County may make it easier for employees to report whistleblower complaints within county government. County council gave a first reading to revised reporting safeguards Monday evening. Councilman Dale Miller, a Democrat who introduced the measure, said it grew out of talks with county Inspector General Mark Griffin. The changes are intended to give potential whistleblowers more comfort in coming forward with complaints, Miller said.
