Deputy Columbus police chief relieved of duty during investigation for rules violation

Columbus Division of Police

Columbus Division of Police Deputy Chief Elrico Alli has been relieved of duty pending an internal investigation into an alleged violation of the division's rules of conduct.

Division spokesperson Sgt. Joe Albert said in a statement that due to the ongoing nature of the investigation the division is unable to provide further details.

Alli was one of four deputy chiefs announced for Police Chief Elaine Bryant's leadership team in 2023.

Four other deputy chiefs left the department when they accepted $500,000 voluntary retirement buyouts.

Alli has been with the police division since 2003.
