Westerville North High School postponed a Black History Month program scheduled for Thursday after the district received threats of violence if the event took place.
In a letter sent to parents and ticketholders, Principal Kurt Yancey said the school made the decision to postpone late Thursday afternoon after they received "multiple reports of potential violence occurring at the event."
Yancey said the safety of students, staff and community members is the school's top priority and that local authorities are investigating.
"We want to acknowledge the tremendous dedication our students have shown in preparing for this performance. Their hard work, talent, and commitment to honoring Black History Month deserve to be celebrated, and we are committed to doing everything we can to give them the opportunity to share their work with you," Yancey wrote.
As of Friday morning, the Whitehall North High School has not announced a new date for the show. Tickets for the original performance will be honored when the show is rescheduled.
