Franklin County treasurer agrees to let bank sell her home after foreclosure fight

Franklin County Treasurer's Office

Under a settlement agreement, Franklin County Treasurer Cheryl Brooks Sullivan will allow a bank to sell her home after years of fighting a potential foreclosure.

Sullivan and the U.S. Bank National Association agreed to forgo a trial, according to a Franklin County Common Pleas Court filing Monday. Instead, the bank group will list Sullivan's home for sale by Sept. 30 or sooner.

Both parties also agreed to dismiss claims by Sullivan that the banks involved violated federal consumer protection laws.

Sullivan has been fighting foreclosure on her home since 2022, shortly after she was re-elected to another four-year term.

Her attorney wrote in previous court filings that Sullivan came under financial strain when her mother died in 2019.

Lawyers for Sullivan and the bank association did not respond to a request for comment.
