FILE - U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio, speaks at a campaign rally, Oct. 5, 2024, in Cincinnati.

We have been waiting for months for this decision. Ohio Democrats have been waiting for months for this decision. Democrats planning 2026 campaigns have been waiting months to find out what Sherrod Brown would do.

Now we know, or at least we think we know. Brown is going to run for the U.S. Senate, the place he walked out of just eight months ago after losing a re-election bid to Republican Bernie Moreno.

Now the other stars will start to align. With Sherrod Brown running for Senate, Tim Ryan can decide whether to run for governor. Former Ohio House Minority Leader Allison Russo can decide what statewide office to target.

Former Ohio Health Director Amy Acton has been running for governor. Brown's announcement might mean she will remain in the race.

Snollygoster of the week

A week ago, President Trump called for Intel CEO Lip Bu Tan to resign over his business dealings in China and delays to Intel’s chip factories, including the one under construction outside Columbus. Senator Bernie Moreno went a step further and suggested that Tan and Intel might be guilty of fraud because Intel’s stock had fallen.

Then on Monday, Lip Bu Tan met with President Trump at the White House. We do not know what they talked about, but it apparently went well. Trump was full of praise for Tan on Truth Social, calling the meeting very interesting and praising Tan’s success and rise as an amazing story.

Intel’s stock immediately rose, climbing 11% over the past few days.

For quickly getting on President Trump’s good side, Intel CEO Lip Bu Tan receives our Snollygoster of the Week award.
