Kathleen Clyde was voted in to lead the Ohio Democratic Party in June 2025.

The prospect of a 20% state income tax cut for upper-income Ohioans looks like it may happen. That is the political story of the week here in Ohio.

To break it down, we'll turn things over to WOSU All Sides host Amy Juravich, and a panel of experts: reporter Jessie Balmert of the USA Today Ohio Bureau, Republican strategist Terry Casey and Democratic strategist Brian Rothenberg.

Plus, we'll have a discussion about the future of the Ohio Democratic Party. The party recently elected a new chair. Amy Acton is building a campaign for Ohio Governor. And everyone is waiting for Sherrod Brown to announce his plans.

Snollygoster of the week

Two state lawmakers have filed a bill that would ban abortions in Ohio and criminalize in vitro fertilization. The bill comes less than two years after Ohio voters overwhelmingly approved a constitutional amendment guaranteeing a woman’s right to an abortion and prohibiting the state from interfering in reproductive procedures.

Even Ohio Right to Life’s Mike Gonidakis says the bill goes too far and is unconstitutional.

It’s an obvious, shrewd political move to get attention, which is why we are not naming the state representatives.
