After days of work creating new maps with out-of-state experts, Republican members of the Ohio Redistricting Commission voted to approve a tweaked version of the previous unconstitutional district map. Same old song
Ohio still doesn’t have constitutional state legislative maps, leaving primary elections in limbo.
Three versions of state House and Senate maps were ruled unconstitutional by the Ohio Supreme Court for illegally favoring Republicans.
Last weekend brought more last-minute negotiations and people closely watching computer screens as newly-hired independent mapmakers drew district lines in a more open and bipartisan process.
But most of the Republicans on the Ohio Redistricting Commission said "we’re out of time." With the Supreme Court deadline of midnight Monday night, they reverted to maps previously ruled unconstitutional but did make some minor changes first.
Now the Court has given members of the Ohio Redistricting Commission until Monday morning to explain why they should not be held in contempt.

A couple of weeks ago, Rep. Scott Wiggam (R-Wooster) tweeted “It’s time to impeach Maureen O’Connor now.” He and other Ohio Republicans are unhappy with the chief justice's swing vote in the ongoing map debacle.
