The National Weather Service in Wilmington has issued a flash flood warning for much of Franklin County and parts of southwest Licking County and northwest Fairfield County through 1:15 p.m. Wednesday.
The NWS says between 2 and 3.5 inches of rain have fallen in the area since midnight, and another half- inch to 1 inch is expected.
Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, highways, streets, underpasses and low-lying areas is expected.
A flood watch continues until 2 a.m. Thursday.
