Michael McKee attends his arraignment virtually in the Franklin County Court of Common Pleas on January 23, 2026.

Michael D. McKee pleaded not guilty Friday to four counts of aggravated murder in the shooting deaths of Spencer and Monique Tepe on Dec. 30 in their Weinland Park home.

McKee, 39, of Chicago, was arraigned in Franklin County Common Pleas Court after being extradited from Illinois on Tuesday.

McKee was not in the courtroom but appeared on video from the Franklin County Jail. He also pleaded not guilty to one count of aggravated burglary.

McKee's attorney Diane Menashe asked to waive McKee's bond. He is being held in the Franklin County Jail.

None of McKee's family or the Tepes' family was present in the courtroom. The proceedings lasted less than two minutes.

McKee is the ex-husband of Monique Tepe and a vascular surgeon. He was arrested on Jan. 10 in Rockford, Ill.

The Tepes were found shot inside their North 4th Street home. Their two young children were found in the home unharmed.

Columbus police say ballistics and vehicle evidence linked McKee to the murders.
