Columbus Police continue to investigate the deaths of Spencer and Monique Tepe, who were found shot in their home on North 4th Street in Weinland Park on Tuesday. Their two young children were found unharmed inside the house.

A statement from the family Friday said, "Our family is devastated by the tragic and senseless loss of Spencer and Monique. They were extraordinary people whose lives were filled with love, joy, and deep connection to others."

The statement said Spencer Tepe was a devoted and proud father, Ohio State graduate and a big Buckeyes and Bengals fan. It says Monique was a loving, patient and joyful mother.

"Together, Spencer and Monique shared a beautiful, strong and deeply-happy relationship. They loved to travel, to laugh and to build a life rooted in love," the statement said.

"We are heartbroken beyond words. While no outcome can ever undo this loss, our family is committed to seeing this tragedy fully and fairly brought to justice, and to honoring Spencer and Monique by protecting the future of the children they loved so deeply."

Dr. Spencer Tepe was a dentist at the Athens Dental Depot in southeast Ohio. The owner Mark Valrose was the first to call Columbus police to conduct a welfare check after Tepe was late for work.

Valrose said in a statement on Facebook his colleague will be deeply missed by the team and the many patients Tepe cared for over the years.

"Our thoughts and sincerest condolences are with their families and loved ones during this very difficult time," the statement also said.

Valrose said the dental practice will be closed the rest of the week.

Columbus police are asking anyone with video, photographs or digital evidence related to the incident from midnight to 9 a.m. Tuesday, including suspicious people or vehicles, to contact police.
