Blendon Township trustees voted Monday to place police officer Connor Grubb on paid administrative leave.

The move comes after a jury on Friday found Grubb not guilty of murder, felonious assault and involuntary manslaughter after fatally shooting Ta'Kiya Young in 2023 at a Sunbury Road Kroger store. Young had been accused of shoplifting.

Blendon Township Police Chief John Belford told WOSU on Monday that it is not clear yet whether Grubb will return to the police department. Belford says he has reached out to the police union to set up a meeting.

Young was about seven months pregnant when Grubb shot her. Grubb had been on unpaid leave since last year.

The vote came during a special meeting held Monday that was held by the trustees.
