A five-year-old girl who was reported missing from Pleasantville, about 10 miles northeast of Lancaster, was found safe near Louisville, Kentucky on Monday.

This is according to the Fairfield County Sheriff's Office.

The sheriff’s office learned the girl was missing when authorities responded to a house fire in the 7200 block of Pleasantville Road around 6 a.m. Monday. Court documents say the girl’s father reported that he had last seen her the night before when she went to bed.

John Clayton Edward Beckman, 38, is facing a felony kidnapping charge in Fairfield County Common Pleas Court after Kentucky State Police found the missing girl in his vehicle during a traffic stop around 10:15 a.m. Monday near Elizabethtown, which is about 30 miles south of Louisville.

Beckman was an acquaintance of the girl’s father and had been at their house the night before, according to court documents.

Police are continuing to investigating the incident.
