A Franklin County sheriff's deputy was arrested and relieved of duty Saturday.

Deputy Nathaniel Wolfe, 26, is facing aggravated menacing and assault charges, both first-degree misdemeanors.

Records from Franklin County Municipal Court allege that during a fight between two women, Wolfe punched one of the women and then held a gun to her head. The incident happened at a home in the 800 block of Lancia Lane on Columbus' westside early Saturday morning.

Franklin County Sheriff’s Department in a statement said Wolfe was arrested without incident when he arrived at work at Jackson Pike Correctional Center around 7 a.m. Saturday. He was relieved of duty pending the outcome of the criminal charges and an internal investigation.

“We hold our deputies to the highest standards. While the deputy is innocent until proven guilty, any breach of trust will not be tolerated,” Franklin County Sheriff Dallas Baldwin said in the statement.

Wolfe was arraigned following his arrest and released on his own recognizance. As a condition of his bond, he is not allowed to have firearms, ammunition or other weapons and cannot consume alcohol or use drugs.
