Olentangy High School principal placed on administrative leave during investigation

Olentangy Local School District

Olentangy Local School District has placed Olentangy High School Principal Robert Griffiths on paid administrative leave while he is under investigation.

Olentangy Schools Superintendent Todd Meyer sent in an email message to parents on Monday.

The message and a statement from the district's spokesperson did not state why Griffiths was placed on leave, but both said it does not concern the safety of students or impact the academic integrity of the district.

Meyer said placing Griffiths on administrative leave is a procedural step to protect the investigation and that the best interests of students and staff remain the district's top priorities.

Griffiths joined Olentangy Schools 22 years ago as a science teacher and became principal at the high school six years ago.

Meyer said Director of Secondary Schools and former Orange High School Principal Trond Smith is now the lead administrator at Olentangy High School.
