The New Beginnings Church of God in Hilliard on May 11, 2020.

Police in Hilliard are asking people to come forward if they have stories of child sexual abuse tied to a church.

Police say female victims have recounted abuse that happened at the Open Gates Church of God on Avery Road between 2012 and 2014. All of the alleged victims were younger than 10 years old at the time.

Police say the suspect was also a minor who worked in the children's and teen rooms at the church. No criminal charges have been filed.

The church is now known as New Beginnings Church of God. Police say the investigation does not involve any current staff members.

"It is never too late to come forward with information about a crime," said Chief of Police Michael Woods wrote in a Facebook post.

"We're asking parents and responsible adults to facilitate open and honest conversations with their children about any inappropriate behavior they may have witnessed or experienced," Woods said.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Tom Morris at 614-334-2473 or tmorris@hilliardohio.gov.
