Former Ohio State quarterback Art Schlichter faces a charge of felony drug possession and abuse.

The 62-year-old Schlichter, whose address is his native Washington Court House, received a citation from a Hilliard police officer earlier this month.

Schlichter's NFL career was derailed by a gambling addiction in the 1980s, and he was found to have stolen thousands of dollars from people for bogus college and NFL football tickets.

Schlichter pleaded guilty to the ticket scheme in September 2011.

He was released from prison in 2021 and is currently on parole. Drug use would be a parole violation.

One of Schlichter's victims was Anita Barney of Dublin, the widow of former Wendy's CEO Robert Barney. She pleaded guilty to two felony theft counts for her own involvement in Schlichter's crimes.

Schlichter's arraignment in a Franklin County Municipal Court is scheduled to take place on Friday.
