William Husel stands during a short break in his trial on Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2022 at the Franklin County Common Pleas Courthouse in Columbus, Ohio.

The legal team representing former Mount Carmel doctor William Husel in his pending civil cases is asking for his deposition to be sealed.

William Husel was acquitted on 14 counts of murder in April, but he still faces 10 lawsuits that seek to hold him and Mount Carmel Health Systems responsible for the deaths of patients in his care.

The suits allege the patients died because Husel prescribed excessive doses of fentanyl and other drugs.

Husel's legal team is trying to keep information obtained in his deposition from reaching the ears of potential jurors in his civil proceedings.

They argue such details could cause Husel embarrassment and make it harder for him to get a fair trial.

In a separate filing this week, attorneys representing patients' families argue it is not the court's role to "help Husel hide his sworn testimony from public view."
