With extreme temperatures forecasted for much of the week, the Columbus Recreation and Parks Department is working to help people cool off.

Seven community centers will open cooling centers from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday through Thursday. They include:

  • Barnett Community Center
  • Beatty Community Center
  • Dodge Community Center
  • Douglas Community Center
  • Glenwood Community Center
  • Linden Community Center
  • Marion Franklin Community Center

The department's pools are open for extended hours, and admission is free, though capacity is limited and pre-registration is recommended.

Additionally, spraygrounds at Blackburn, Linden, North Bank, and Scioto Southland will be open for extended hours on Thursday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
