The owners of the Colonial Village Apartments on Columbus East Side are being held in contempt for "deplorable living conditions."

Court documents show that the owners have failed to address electrical, trash, pest infestation issues and other health and safety protocols in the past at the 500 -unit complex.

A company called Apex Colonial OH currently owns the complex. It’s an apparent subsidiary of Apex Equity Group, headquartered in New Jersey.

In September, it was reported that the entire apartment complex racked up more than 400 violations.

Environmental Court Judge Stephanie Mingo issued a $50,000 fine for failure to address these issues. A contempt hearing is set for April 25.
