Columbus Police have released the personnel file for Nicholas Reardon, the officer who shot and killed Ma’Khia Bryant.

Reardon’s file indicates he started with the Columbus Division of Police on December 16, 2019 and completed his one-year probationary period late last year.

The file does not include any disciplinary actions or other obvious red flags in his one-and-half years on the force. The division has confirmed Reardon’s father was Sergeant Ed Reardon who trained Columbus police officers before retiring last year.

The employee file makes no mention of Reardon’s past service, but a police spokesman confirmed Reardon has served in the Ohio Air National Guard.

After Tuesday’s shooting, Reardon was placed on administrative leave
