McNaughten Pointe is a nursing facility on the East side of Columbus.

The number of nursing homes in Franklin County with cases of COVID-19 is twice as high as it was in August.

There are now 30 long-term care facilities in Franklin County reporting at least a single current coronavirus case, up from 16 facilities just three months ago.

Among those, there are 11 facilities that report five or more current cases, higher than ever before.

At most nursing homes, the total number of COVID cases has remained largely static over the last three months, only increasing recently. The exception to that is McNaughten Pointe – the only facility in Franklin County that voluntarily takes on COVID-positive seniors for recovery.

At McNaughten Pointe, its cumulative COVID numbers have doubled from 112 in August to 230 now.

There have been 57 deaths in Franklin County’s long-term care facilities since August, bringing the total since the pandemic began to 409 – more than any other county in the state.
