Honda is pausing production next week at all its plants in North America, including five locations in Ohio.
The move to halt production is temporary, and the carmaker will continue paying all of the nearly 28,000 employees at the 12 plants. The suspension begins next Monday, with production set to resume on March 31.
In apress releaseannouncing the move, the company says it will “continue to evaluate conditions and make additional adjustments as necessary.”

Honda officials are anticipating reduced demand due to the spread of COVID-19, and shuttering plants will reduce the company’s output by about 40,000 vehicles.
The closure affects 5 facilities in Ohio: auto plants in Marysville and East Liberty, the Performance Manufacturing Center, and two powertrain plants. The company says it will use the break to deep-clean its facilities and common areas.
