Two former Ohio State University football players have pleaded not guilty to charges of sexually assaulting a 19-year-old woman and holding her against her will.
On Thursday morning, Amir Riep and Jahsen Wint posted bond at $100,000 and $75,000, respectively, according to court records. Franklin County Municipal Court Judge Cynthia Edner also barred the men from posting on social media about the victim.
Riep and Wint are both 21 years old. They were arrested by Columbus Police on Tuesday night on charges of rape and kidnapping.
According to an affidavit, the victim claims she and Riep were having consensual sex on February 4 when she told Riep she didn't want to continue. She says Wint then entered the room and the two men assaulted her for several minutes.
The affidavit says after the assault, Riep allegedly recorded the the victim and told her she needed to say her name and that the act was consensual.
Following their arrest, Ohio State football head coach Ryan Day dismissed Riep and Wint from the team.
“I am not making any statement on the criminal charges, but it is clear they did not live up to our standards and my expectations,” Day said in an emailed statement. “The athletics department will make sure they both continue to have access to the health and well-being resources available to students and student-athletes.”
The two men were junior backup defensive backs in 2019 and lived together in the Northwest Columbus apartment where the assault allegedly occured.
A grand jury will hear the cases for potential indictment.
