Columbus City Council will vote Monday to devoting more than $280,000 to HIV prevention efforts.
Columbus Public Health received funding from the state as part of the Federal HIV Prevention Grant program. The program aims to provide Franklin County residents with counseling, testing and educational services. The effort is aimed at men who have sex with men, injection drug users and youth.
Council will vote on proposals to give more than $215,000 to Equitas Health for education and risk reduction services and $70,000 to the AIDS Healthcare Foundation for testing and screening services.
According to a 2018 report, Franklin County accounted for 21% of all new diagnoses of HIV in Ohio.
