Authorities have arrested two teenagers and charged them with reckless homicide in the death of a photographer at Hocking Hills State Park last month.
Chillicothe resident Victoria Schafer, 44, died September 2 after being hit by part of a falling tree near Old Man's Cave. Investigators quickly said the incident was “not a natural occurrence" and Southern Ohio Crime Stoppers offered a $10,000 reward leading to the arrest and conviction of the people involved.
“Detectives received information about two teenage boys who might have involvement in Schafer's death. Investigators conducted interviews with the two individuals where they obtained a confession regarding the incident,” reads a post from the Hocking County Sheriff’s Office’s Facebook page.
It wasn't immediately clear what led them to the two teens.
The sheriff's office says the two boys, both 16, were taken into custody Thursday. They were transported to the Multi County Juvenile Detention Center where they will await court proceedings.
