Columbus Council To Vote On Far West Area Commission

Columbus City Council votes Monday on whether to establish the city's 20th area commission.

If approved, the Far West Area Commission would encompass 11 square miles and include about 15,000 homes.

Under the proposal before Council, the northern boundary hits Hilliard city limits, and the southern border meets the centerline of Norfolk Southern Railroad Tracks.

The city's area commissions let citizens participate in decision making on a volunteer basis and facilitate communication between neighborhood groups and officials.

Residents filed the petition for the Far West Area Commission in November 2018.
