Delaware County Prosecutor Carol O’Brien is leaving her post to take a job back in state government.Ohio Attorney General-Elect Dave Yost wrote on Twitter Wednesday that O’Brien will join his office as Deputy Attorney General for Law Enforcement.
It’s a coming home of sorts for O’Brien, who previously worked in the AG’s office with the Ohio Organized Commission. She also represented state employees in litigation.
O’Brien became Delaware County Prosecutor in 2011, when county Republicans selected her to replace Yost after he was elected Ohio Auditor.
“Carol and I prosecuted cases together in Delaware Co., and I know she has the smarts, tenacity and toughness to serve Ohio,” Yost wrote on Twitter.
O’Brien also made a failed bid for Ohio’s 12th Congressional District seat last year. She lost the May primaries for both an August special election and the November general election to Troy Balderson.
