Columbus officials have struggled for years to regulate parking in the Short North. Now that a series of public meetings has concluded, the city wants more input through anonline survey.
The Short North’s parking pains have been evident for years and they’re getting worse.
The city has tried to juggle parking between residents, businesses and visitors, sometimes raising the ire of a certain segment of constituents. A recent proposal would require residents to purchase $50-a-year parking decals while visitors could park free.
Jennifer Gallagher, the Columbus Director of Public Services, says public input is vital as the city drafts its Short North parking pilot program. She’s urging residents, businesses and other stakeholders – including visitors – to complete an online parking survey.
Responses will be accepted through the close of business on Monday, May 1.
