Columbus Man Charged In Murder Of Woman Found In Recycling Bin

Facebook

A man accused of killing a woman whose body was found in a recycling bin partially submerged in a creek has been indicted on charges including aggravated murder.

Franklin County's prosecutor said Thursday that 29-year-old Andrew McGowan killed 22-year-old Gabriel Hinojosa and attempted to dispose of her body in a recycling bin. Prosecutor Ron O'Brien's statement said Hinojosa was the mother of McGowan's child.

The Columbus man also was indicted on charges of murder, kidnapping, tampering with evidence and gross abuse of a corpse.

Court records don't show an attorney for McGowan.

The prosecutor didn't release details about how Hinojosa died.

Authorities say she was reported missing Feb. 19. Her body was found in the curbside-style bin with wheels on Feb. 24 by some people kayaking along Big Darby Creek.
