Central Ohio Home Sale Climb; Prices Rise

The average house in Central Ohio spent only 44 days on the market in May.

Nearly 31-hundred houses and condos were sold in Central Ohio in May.

Columbus Realtors reports that was close to 16 percent more than changed hands in April.

The group says houses were on the market an average of 44 days--eight days fewer than the month before.

Columbus Realtor's President John Royer said the group's main challenge is the lack of homes for sale. He said today's housing inventory is less than 40 percent of the average during the past decade.

Housing prices continue to rise. The industry group said the average sales price of a house last month was $211,974. That was a 4.7 percent increase over April prices.
