A Columbus City Council member is pushing a proposal to restrict what protesters can do outside health clinics that provide abortions. Council is expected to discuss the measure on Monday.
The proposed ordinance would stop protesters from blocking, harassing or following anyone within 15 feet of clinics.
A violation of the ordinance would be a first-degree misdemeanor.
The proposal’s sponsor, Democrat Elizabeth Brown, says “sidewalk counselors” would still be allowed to talk to people walking into a clinic, but it would ban “aggressive harassment.”
