Outgoing Columbus Mayor Michael Coleman today praised the financial achievements of his administration during the rollout of the 2016 city budget. Two-thirds of the $835 million spending plan is allocated to police and fire services.
The budget contains a half million dollars for police body cameras and $280,000 to battle heroin addiction.
Coleman says he leaves Columbus in good financial shape.
"In spite of hard times throughout the years we’re still standing tall and we have swagger as a community. We are one of the most fiscally sound cities in the nation; very few cities can boast of our fiscal health," Coleman says.
The City Council will review the proposal; perhaps making changes before it votes on the plan in January or February.
