Police say a charred body found in the wreckage of a car fire in western Ohio earlier this month was that of a 29-year-old man who lived in a Columbus suburb.

The Clark County Sheriff's Office says the coroner identified the victim as Daryl Best of Grove City. Investigators say Best had suffered multiple injuries but it wasn't clear when they happened. A motive for the slaying hasn't been determined, and no arrests have been made.

Bethel Township firefighters were alerted to the blaze just after 2 a.m. Sept. 7 when a passing motorist noticed smoke in the area near Interstate 70.

Officials say fire crews arrived on scene and found a vehicle parked behind a tree fully engulfed in flames.
