The State Auditor's office has cited two closed Columbus Charter schools for improper financial activity.
Auditor David Yost says the Notten School for Science, Technology, Engineering and Math improperly spent state funds after the school closed in 2011. Yost says the school failed to return the money, instead using it to liquidate its expenditures.
Yost also cites unexplained, extended absences by students and five teachers with out proper credentials.
Yost says the Leadership Academy of Math and Science failed to document a number of expenses before it closed.
