An Ohio charter school superintendent, a school board chairman and an education consultant suspected of bribing them in exchange for a contract have been convicted of federal charges.
The U.S. attorney for southern Ohio says the three were convicted of conspiracy and federal programs bribery Tuesday and must forfeit nearly $421,000 in the corruption case tied to the former Arise Academy school in Dayton. Prosecutors say the 42-year-old superintendent from Strongsville and the 44-year-old chairman from Springfield also were convicted of making false statements to the FBI.
The third defendant, from Global Educational Consultants, is from Durham, North Carolina.
Messages seeking comment were left for their attorneys.
Prosecutors say Dayton woman also charged pleaded guilty earlier to conspiracy to commit federal programs bribery.
It wasn't clear when they'll be sentenced.
