A judge has set a new trial date for an Ohio man charged with plotting a U.S. attack after receiving overseas terrorism training.
Columbus resident Abdirahman Sheik Mohamud has pleaded not guilty to charges of supporting terrorism, supporting a terrorist group and making a false statement involving international terrorism.
Judge James Graham on Tuesday rescheduled the June trial until Oct. 5 at the request of defense attorney Sam Shamansky.
Shamansky asked for the delay because prosecutors said they needed 12 more weeks to prepare evidence.
The 23-year-old Mohamud is accused of receiving terrorism training on weapons, combat and tactics in Syria, then returning to the U.S. with a plan to attack a military base or a prison.
