The Trust for Public Land has ranked Columbus' park system as fair. The city scored a mediocre rating, 57 out of 75 cities across the country, when it comes to the size and accessibility to city parks.

Peter Harnik is an expert in city parks. He says the city's aggressive expansion is ...in part...to blame.

"Columbus like several other cities, like Indianapolis and some others, faces the challenge that it has expanded to such a large area that it also puts a stress on providing enough facilities to add all of those residents."

In addition to acquiring more land for parks, Harnik says Columbus needs to work on making existing parks more accessible.
