Franklin County election officials describe voter turnout so far today in Franklin County as light to steady.

In Columbus, the mayor’s race tops the local ballot.  Voters will choose which two out of 4 candidates will move on to the fall election.  Columbus voters will also pick candidates for school board and city council.

At the Driving Park Recreation Center, with 4700 registered voters in the precinct, only 300 had voted as of 3:30 p.m.

Spokesman for the Franklin County Board of Elections, Ben Piscitelli says absentee voting also has been slow.

“Rather light this year and it kind of indicates that we could be seeing a light turnout today throughout Franklin County not only for the Columbus issues, but also primaries in Gahanna and Reynoldsburg, the city contests there and also for a number of township tax issues.”

Piscitelli says 10, 725 voters requested an absentee ballot of which 9,300 were from Columbus.
