A judge has denied a former Ohio lawmaker’s second request for early release from prison.
The Dayton Daily News reports the decision involving ex-Rep. Clayton Luckie of Dayton came Tuesday.
Under a plea deal, Luckie was sentenced in January 2013 to a three-year prison term after pleading guilty to election falsification, grand theft and other charges.
State and federal investigators found he skimmed nearly $130,000 in campaign funds for personal use and failed to list campaign expenditures for six years.
Franklin County Judge Colleen O’Donnell ruled Tuesday that releasing Luckie early “would demean the seriousness of the offenses.”
The court could have imposed a prison term of more than 10 years.
O’Donnell denied a similar request last year.
The 51-year-old Luckie has attributed the crimes to “errors in judgment.”
